Bulgaria Restricts Freight Road Traffic August

Bulgarian authorities issued a ban of all heavy-freight vehicles on its road network on 15:00 - 20:00 Fridays and Sundays between August 6 and 30.

The Road Infrastructure Agency, which is the state organ taking care of roads, motivated the restriction with heat above 35 degrees C expected. This causes Bulgarian asphalt to melt under the wheels of heavy trucks.

The ban applies to vehicles over 20 tonnes moving along Bulgaria's highways and first category roads. It also includes tractors and other agricultural and construction vehicles.

A similar ban was issued for today for Bulgaria's southwestern Blagoevgrad region, as well as for some roads in northern Bulgaria.

I can see the sense in this but then again

If the tarmac melts then maybe some of these lorries could level out the roads and rid us of some of the bumps. Then at least we would only have tram tracks to get stuck in

I have always said that worn tyres are a nightmare to get rid of, however, surely one day somebody will come up with the idea of shredding them to bits and mixing them with the asphalt which would help the asphalt resist the heat off the sun during hot periods. Not only would it help stop the tarmac splitting as it would allow the roads to "
expand"
it would also help stop the potholes when the roads contract in the cold weather.

You must be joking this is Bulgaria. If you can think of a hard way of doing things then that is the Bulgarian way. Method on saving money is to fill in 2 out of every 3 pot holes. It also keeps the speed down on the roads (sometimes)
