A regular service between Varna airport and Sheremetievo international airport in Moscow will be launched from October 30 2010, flying once a week, the press centre of the Varna airport said in a media statement.

Flights will be by Bulgaria Air, once a week, on Saturdays during the winter. Take off will be at 8.40am Bulgarian time.

With this latest link to Sheremetievo airport, services between Bulgaria and Moscow have been increased to three times weekly. Last year, the Russian carrier S7 Airlines launched year-round flights to Domodedovo airport in Moscow.

The number of passengers processed at the Varna airport from the beginning of the year travelling to and from Russia is about 250 000, indicating a 27 per cent increase on the same period last year. Passengers travelling to and from Moscow alike number about 172 000, a 25 per cent rise on annual basis.

Well, guess the Bulgarians have given up entirely on the Brits and really concentrating hard on the Russians for the cash. s s
