There is talk about a big international airport ? so it won't be quiet for long if it goes ahead?

I found this on wiki

Draganov arises at the end of XII and the beginning of XIII century and is named after its founder - Dragan, who lived before the Ottomans. East adjoins the village of Forest Trambesh Upper and Lower D. Trambesh the north and north - with the villages of Sushitsa, Sagittarius and Sashevo;
west - s. Yantra and pears, to the south Dolna Oryahovitsa. Given the large scale was a major market center in the region.

In 1935 to 1945 the population was counted Draganovo about 9000 inhabitants. Livelihood was agriculture, livestock, horticulture and fishing. But since the population was the dust was very difficult to feed with these crafts. A bright and enterprising are directed to gurbetchiystvo. At first walked in gardens and are returning to the village late fall to provide for their families subsistence and to enable children to learn. But after a while began to buy land for gardening and many of them down there permanently. Most have settled in Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland and Australia. There is no country in which there is no Draganovchanin which to pursue gardening.

Others in Draganovo people are engaged mainly in agriculture and livestock. During the period from 1939 to 1948 in Draganovo there were over 25,000 heads of cattle, pigs, horses, goats, buffalo and more. Processing is about 40,000 acres of land. After 1945, establishes a cooperative, and subsequently expanded and became a center for several surrounding villages: Upper Forest Trambesh Sagittarius and village Sushitsa. Ukrupnyavat to farms, orchards, vegetable gardens, vineyards and more. The territory has about 10-15 taps on the field made for watering the animals.

At the outbreak of the Balkan War in 1912 to 5 people from the village are volunteers Macedonian Adrianopolitan Volunteer [1].

Over the years, have grown very prominent personalities and writers - Kamen Zidarov Assen Raztsvetnikov, Vladimir Rusaliev and others. younger Mr. unknown. There were two main schools that have taught over 400 -500 children, but are now only half. One school has been abandoned, and then during the 1939-1944 war, was in high school, it has housed even surgical sector of the Alexander Hospital.

Was extremely well-developed sport in the village. In 1948 was built the first stadium in rural Bulgaria with Olympic size. There were two football teams and teams in athletics, basketball, tennis, biking and more. Here were born very honored masters of sport. George Tihov is fourth in Europe championship in Athens in 1969, Kostadin Gemov - Balkan Champion Decathlon - one of the founders of ice hockey in Bulgaria. Elijah Martin Bachvarovi - ice hockey player who played many years in the National team of Bulgaria. Here were born many talents who have expressed in Bulgaria and abroad.

In the summer of 2003 after several years of interruption was restored to the village football team, which has many good traditions in the regional group. This team name is FC Yantra 2003 and performed very successfully in the district football championship. Reconstruction of the football club and its full maintenance grant is the work of ET AMFORA - Rumen Kelivanov. Almost the entire team consists of players from the Upper Grand Tarnovo.Ot Oryahovitsa and local players are only Victor Tokmakchiev, Nikola Ivanov

Before 1940 in Draganova was a strong private craft. There were about 5-6 smithies and workshops for carts and carpentry 5-6. There were 7-8 tailoring workshops, shops and pubs around 30 in number, also two rolling mills, which have welcomed customers from surrounding villages, 2-3 workshops for the repair of bicycles and motorcycles.

The village has 990 buildings and 1,400 households. Currently, residents are about 3000 people. The trend is - a catastrophic reduction in population. Demographics show an aging population.
