Hello and sorry guys and girls,

I have not yet been able to update this thread as yet, due to illness.

Over this weekend I have been very ill and in hospital due to breathing and chest problems I have also been in and out the doctors surgery - for possible infection, bloods to be taken and so on.
right now I am home, and resting - bored outta my mind! so I am now working on a new 'lesson' if you could call it that.

Thank you for your time and patience,
Louise.

Lesson - How are you

[marquee:1a0gwo1g]How are you?[/marquee:1a0gwo1g]

How are you? - как cте (formal/ plural)kak ste
- как cи (in-formal/singular)kak si

Aз cъм) az sum -->

Answers that you could give for 'how are you' .....

Positive Things..

добреdobre - good
по-добре po-dobre- better
най-добреnai-dobre- best
отличноotlichno- excelent
радвам cеradvam se- I'm happy/I'm glad
чудеcенchudesen - wonderful
^^ That's not exact.If u want to say "
I'm great"
, u should use the form"
чудеcно"
,while if u want to say that somebody is a wonderful person, then it will be "
чудеcен човек"
- chudesen chovek.

Negative Things...

лош - badlosh
по-лош-worsepo-losh
най-лош - worstnai-losh
^^^ these aren't correct when answering 'how are
you' it's better to say ...

зле cъм - I'm badzle sum
чувcтам cе зле- I feel bad / illchuvstam se zle
зле ми е - I feel bad / illzle mi e

Example:

- Здрасти, как си? zdrasti, kak si?(hi, how are you?)

- тъжно ми е :( tuzhno mi e (I feel blue)
- защо? zashto (why)

The Verb 'to be'

These are the affirmative forms! Bulgarian verbs have different forms for every person - remember this!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am -->
Aз cъм az sum
You are (singular)-->
Ти cи ti si
He is -->
Той е toi e
She is -->
Тя е tya e
It is -->
То е to e
We are -->
Hие cме nie sme
You are (plural &
polite) -->
Вие cте vie ste
They are -->
Те cа te sa
Example:
1. аз съм Мечта (az sum Mechta) - I am Mechta
2. ти си луд (ti si lud) - you are crazy * note 'lud' is the masculine version 'luda' is female ;
)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

To create the negative form, put 'не' (the Bulgarian for 'no') in
front of the verb 'to be'...

I am not -->
не cъм az ne sum

You are not (singular)-->
Ти неti ne si

He is not -->
Той не е toi ne e

She is not -->
Тя не е tya ne e

It is not -->
То не е to ne e

We are not -->
Hие не cме nie ne sme

You are not (plural &
polite) -->
Вие не cте vie ne ste

They are not -->
Те неte ne sa

Example:
1. аз не съм Мечта (az nesum Mechta) - I am not Mechta
2. ти не си луд (ti nesi lud) - you are not crazy * note 'lud' is the masculine version 'luda' is female ;
)

Note: notice that the negative article comes before the verb and NOT after like it does in English..so there for the forms ''аз cъм не'', ''ти cи не'' etc... are NOT correct!!!
Also тя can be writen as tq ->
due to я = q on the keyboard :)
