I personally don't know them but a friend of mine used them sometime ago and wasn't happy with them, she said that she felt they weren't professional in their approach.

This was found on the complaints page, interesting,

BEWARE !!!
HOLIDAY-RENTALS .co.uk part of HOMEAWAY
is doing the same to me here in UK
Holiday- rentals .co.uk refuses to remove libel Review posted on my listing, saying I homeowner should counteract it with posting review of my own
Their customer service is arogant, hardly speaks any english is very illiterate and neglectful.
Especially the Holiday-rentals.co.uk Review department.
Forget about getting through to their so called legal department or managing director- they do not exist
They rather you cancell your listing and go away without refund.
Holiday-rentals.co.uk are not caring about your business or relations with them.
I think 'the company' is pair of rude, illiterate computer Geeks pretending to be large web listing company
They pocketed my money and as far as they are concerned they do not owe me anything more
I was left with no other option but to have remove my listing and go away without any refund or apology.
I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST LISTING YOUR PROPERTY WITH HOLIDAY-RENTALS.co.uk and
their parent company HOMEAWAY.com
very unhappy holiday homeowner

Hi fellow members

Have any members on this forum ever been refused advertising rights with
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. I have and it is all down to a certain James Letterby (and we all know who that is) contacting them and as you can read below, telling them a pack of lies. He also did the same last year with the other holiday company, namely Holiday Lettings now part of tripadviser and the police have a statement to that effect

After six months of fighting for my rights with their legal department, They asked for a copy of the Title Deeds, a copy of the proof of purchase and a copy of my driving licence, so they obviously prefer to believe the perpetrator (James Letterby) rather than me and the police. I have, under The Data Protection Act 1989 requested information which led to the deactivation of my account, only to be ignored, so I have now put in a report/complaint to the Information Commissioners Office.

This is the final email I received from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Dear Bryan,

I appreciate the time and effort made to send us the documents for your property.

After careful review of your account and your situation, we have made the decision to refuse the publication of your adverts on our site(s).

At HomeAway, we aim to delight our customers by creating a trustworthy marketplace. Though we believe that you have been the victim of ill-intentioned individuals, we cannot risk confusing our travellers as they are likely to check the identity of owners and their properties on the internet before making a booking.

I am sincerely sorry you are encountering this difficult situation and I hope that everything will turn out well for you in the future.

EU Trust and Security Administrator

The following customer who chose to ignore what rubbish she read on Google, put there by various aliases including James Letterby went for her family holiday and this is what she wrote

Dear Brian
Please find below the email I received from HomeAway.co.uk regarding Walnut
House.
As I said on the phone to you, we had a fantastic holiday and you have been
polite and extremely helpful. Walnut House is a beautiful holiday villa with
all amenities provided.

I wish you luck in the future.
Kind regards
Miriam.

Yes your right Brian most of us do know who this fool is. Unfortunately the world is full to overflowing with people like him and there doesn't seem to be a way of getting rid of them easily but I would tell others to not shop or buy anything from him at all, there are plenty of other English food shops about. good luck to you Brian .

[size=150:tgjity5j]Some of HomeAway upset customers:
They have certainly upset me big style. and I agree with most of the postings in the link below. They seem to think they can get away with anything and everything
Have any other members got any stories to tell

HomeAway keeps on receiving complaints. Check out the BBB (over 30 complaints!) and also the following link:

Sorry folks if I am repeating myself, but for thoses members who have not read the following elsewhere. I would like you to see what they sent out to my clients resulting in one family cancelling their 2 week holiday. My wife and I went to see the clients to tell them what they had read was totally untrue. The clients owned a pub and in front of their customers we were told in no uncertain terms to get out of their f*****g pub
I feel it takes more guts for me to print this on an open forum than it does for the perpetrator to do what he did. He has no guts at all, if he had he would not hide behind all those aliases, and when he reads this he will be over the moon because he will know that's another one up to him

Sorry to hear this Brian but these companies are only interested in what goes in the till and sod any problems that come along? If it means they have to work then its not cost effective so for them to actually do the right thing is too expensive and they fear they won't make money from you. I have read somewhere on the Internet of others having problems with these people so don't feel as if its you because it isn't its just that they are a lousy company. s
