PostSubject: Rental properties   Tue Sep 04, 2012 7:38 am

Hi

As the possibility of moving to Bulgaria is becoming more likely, can anyone advise sites on the web for looking for short-term rental in Bulgaria. Ideally want to find somewhere near Veliko Tarnovo as it would be more central for then searching for a prosppective property to buy.

Any advice would be welcome

I would imagine that most estate agents here offer rental properties.
Just get in touch with a couple for ideas of price, location and availability.

As Scunnered said, most of the agents will take long term property rentals on, so check those out in the areas you're thinking of renting.

However, it really depends what you mean on 'short-term'?

Most agents wouldn't even think about a rental agreement that was less than 6 months.

If you're thinking of a shorter period of time than that, then it may be worth looking for a self-catering holiday property for rent (plenty of sites offer these ... just Google them!)

Weeell....how long is a piece of string? We are forever looking into possibilities to cover all scenarios. This particular question is because, if we sell our house soon (and if we don't we have probably missed the boat for this year) we have the option of renting here for a while and saving some extra dosh, then coming out as we planned in May and spending a couple of weeks looking at houses in different regions. Or renting somewhere out there, Possibly in the VT region as it seems fairly central, and taking our time to look around. Of course, if we did this, we might find somewhere quickly or it might take forever, and we have two dogs to accommodate too.

The ones we have found have been mostly holiday lets, with some wanting long term tennants (understandably so) It is possible we will be unable to find anything, though if we come out earlier than planned we may get a holiday let cheap with winter coming on. What we don't want to do is pay a large rent (and winter heating) for six months with no income, that would be a waste.

So putting out feelers really. If the people interested in the house make a firm offer we will have to get in touch with some agents I think and see what they can find for the winter. Or as I said, work here for the winter. We might have to move fast as they are first time buyers with mortgage in place.

However....we have been here twice before, and found somewhere to move to both times, only for the buyers to pull out at the last minute.

What size place are you looking for? furnished/unfurnished, garden etc?

Might be able to help out. I'm not an agent though just know of possibly 2 places that would accept shorter term tenants

T That's very kind Suzee, will certainly bear that in mind while trying to make a decision on what we are going to do.

Well, with a lot of to-ing and fro-ing we have begrudgingly accepted an offer on the house. They want us out in 6 weeks so we will move into a friend's rental property till next spring. They must be keen because they want to come and measure up already. We are not keen on them so are leaving them in the helpful hands of our estate agent (yes, there are some helpful ones out there!) We shall take the dogs to the park again.

We are just looking at options at the moment, seeing what is out there, whether to buy or rent. We are thinking we will come out in March for a look around instead of waiting till May. I think it might be a good idea to see a few houses in different areas before spring kicks in and makes everything seem so much prettier.
