Blimey, it really knows how to rain here doesn't it? I am so glad our house is at the top of a lane. We went to a neighbour's house further down the lane yesterday, for OH to help shift some wood and me to do a more important job....gossiping! Well, I can't chat with lovely neighbours and a girl needs a chinwag occasionally! We weren't that bothered when it started thundering (apart from knowing Bonnie lab would by now be in hiding) but then it started raining, and how. Last time we had this rain we were at home, but down the lane they have more of a problem. When it eased off slightly we decided to leave them to their sand bags and head home. The road had turned into a river and with all the gutters emptying into the lane it was like walking through a waterfall. Only an English person would be out in it!

Came home to a big puddle in the living room and accusing looks from the dogs. The window hadn't been shut properly and water had poured in through the crack.

Don't think we will be doing much in the garden today!

rainy days are most welcome in the summer they stop us all working get us out of the heat and we don't even have to water the garden. Time to get the films out and chill.
Wish we had some rain here some times it so few and far between. we missed it again s

It has been raining in Silistra most days - you know we had a 4 day donated trip to Posabina Lake last week well the day before it has to be cancelled due to the weather conditions and the safety of the children - needless to say the children were so very disappointed but that is the way it goes sometimes. Unfortunately they will not be having a holiday after all, the owner has deferred it to maybe next year now. However, we are sending over 10 - 2 man tents and 15 sleeping bags donated by the Palace Hotel Oban so if the rain every stops perhaps they can have a weekend away locally.

So rain, rain go away come back another day. I am sending instructions over that under no circumstance should there be rain for at least a month whilst I am there Oh I might have forgot to meniton to you guys I am coming over in 6 days

Still on the look out for someone to help us with the raising of the roof, and no it's not a party Willow, Bazz, Itchy but could turn into one :Party2:

Sorry, no good up ladders Berni, a slight case of no balance is the problem, vertigo, poor old f-rt!

Rain . . . yes it really did rain and to think we purchased a sun cover to protect us from the scorching heat from the relentless beams of the sun yesterday, only for it to be turned into an umbrella later in the day. But that's life isn't it? We had our dogs worrying about the storms with Louie barking every time he heard a clap of thunder, unfortunately he didn't understand that God was moving his furniture about when I told him. Sofie spends her time hiding from the light caused by the lightning. But we had two buckets under the one part of the lounge where the roof is flat, but this is being sorted in a few weeks time.

Well it rained here last evening. Rain we so badly needed because we haven't had any but the trouble was it came down with a bang.
The storm and rain lasted 15 minutes the rain flooded the gardens roads plants every thing. The wind was turning every thing upside down too.
A tree in the garden was uprooted plants were all over the place the runnerbeans were on the ground What a mess.
When the water went down we went to see what was the worst Drained pot plants so as not to drown the plants pulled a tree from the garden errected a few poles to support the runner beans again and what do you know the garden looked a bit rough around the edges but on the whole we came out of it ok.
Market day today I shall hear how others came through s

We had another bout yesterday and last night too. We have water coming into two rooms which is a bit annoying as there was no sign of a damp patch before we moved in. Just down to sheer volume we think, and flashing on a chimney not being finished off properly. When we arrived we planted some seeds on a patch that lovely neighbour wasn't using and which has been a bit of a disaster. Beans and peas came up only to be eaten by something and the poor carrots and beets keep getting drowned/washed away. They might turn up under the marrows or pumpkins later. So more went in just before this rain. Bah! I'll have to buy them this year. Still hope for the beans, but I really wanted peas after sampling some of the frozen offerings here, Birds Eye they ain't!

Sara, could you get Dave to stand on the roof and direct some of the rain down my way..everyone has their crops in now, so every time we get high winds, we end up with a dust storm! I'm in the middle of mowing (coffee break) and already look like a chocolate brownie.

Just for you Barry, we have set up a system to point the rain over the mountains. It might not work, but at least we tried!

What a great family I belong to..it actually rained lightly, for five minutes, just after I posted my plea to Sara.

There you go, the power of thought truly is a lot more powerful than the power of speech. (considering you never actually said anything that is)

Although it is annoying to find you have damp or rain coming in now, it is a vital sign to tell you where the problem is while the weather is being kind. In the winter snow will find the same gaps if you have any, so at least you can get it fixed before then.

Our potatoes have gone through it with some ladybird looking thing eating the leaves, we wonder if it is the Colorado beetle. Bernard has arrived twice with a sachet of stuff and sprayed it over the potties and everything has settled down now. The concete posts holding up the Bob fell down in the rain and I have put them back with four pieces of wood shackled around each one. No peace here even in the Summer!!!
