PostSubject: Exchange a house for a service   Fri Sep 20, 2013 10:04 am

I am thinking of exchanging my house in Yambol as I will not be able to return because of various health problems, the house is fully furnished and is about 12 years old, what I am thinking at present is that I exchange it with someone who would be willing to bring back to the uk a few personal possessions. Its a long story but the house will need redecoration as it was left in a bad state by the person I rented it out to who was staying there free of charge so long as he maintained the property and kept it well looked after which he didn't, anyway what I would like to know, is this idea I have of exchanging for a service a possible?

Sorry to hear about that Nets.

It sounds a feasible idea. However, you'd have to make sure you were doing this 'trade' with somebody trustworthy, otherwise you might lose your house and all your possessions!

I'm sure a lawyer could draw up a quick 'contract' stating you were exchanging 'services as detailed to the value of' against the property.

Just out of interest, what sort of transport would be needed to get your wanted goods back to you in the UK?

Car, Estate Car or a van (Small or large)?
Also what sort of time limit are you looking at?

I would also think people might like to know what sort of property it is, such as how many bedrooms?

We could probably bring back a few personal items, depends on size, if this is still needed. But in theory I think an exchange of services/items is a great idea.

Nothing really. If you have a few small items you want getting back to the UK, we are doing a couple of trips this year to see family and could take them for you. Can make donation to our dog charity if you like.

Thank you very much for your kind offer but I have more than what would fit into a car, it will need at least a small van

ok, well we do have a van but usually sleep in the back of it and need space for the dogs.
However, if you get really stuck maybe we could work something out.

Might be a good idea to give a few details about the house if you are still wanting to swap that so people can see if they would be interested.

We will be driving back to the UK in a big van a couple of times between now and mid October , full going to BG but we come back totally empty to the UK

I have just traveled back to the UK last week, We are back in Bulgaria around the 20th June, back in the UK around 25 July, then back to BG in a 7.5 ton lorry towing a car trailer in September and back in UK mid October.
