Therefore, I as wondering if there are any bikers in Silistra that could escorts Tracey Wheeler into the orphanage or maybe a police escort. Now would that be great or what!! Can you imagine the children's faces (a picture) Let me know if you can help thanks a million Berni &

As long as the holes in the middle of the toilet rolls are big enough and the rolls don't unwind because you must admit they are a bit flimsy
Regarding the finish of the motor-bike ride, how about putting up two poles about 10feet apart, put a Welsh flag on top of one and a BG flag on the other and bunting across the top, have the Mayor or somebody of authority at the finish line with a B &
W chequered flag. A good photo g

PostSubject: Re: Silistra Garden Party 2014 6th year   Fri Sep 05, 2014 8:36 am

Well here we are again almost ready for the 6th Annual Garden Party at the Silistra Orphanage. i can't believe how time has flown. The children are very excited about it all and working like little elfs to get everytiing ready. They don't know yet that we will have Tracey the solo bike rider coming with coloriing books and crayons for them. The biggest surprize will be when they see the police escort and all the bikers comng in. The police have been brilliant and have agreed to escort Tracey in through the town. I contacted the biker's club and they are also happy to ride behind her. I don't really know how many will be there yet.

Our BBQ meat donor Kevin Pescott's men will deliver the food on Saturday morning because he does not want the food to defrost as these burgers and sausages can only be cooked from frozen. Therefore, we will ensure they are cooked in the ovens and then put on the BBQ to finish off.

I have a donate cake stall and unfortunately several people who had committed to bake cakes have pulled out this morning so I am not sure now how many, if any, cakes we will have but If all fails I will go to the supermarket and buy some i know this is not how it is done but needs must as they say. Shame they did not tell me beforehand but this is how things go at lease they did ot leave it till the day. I think the only people who are coming from the fourm are Willow and Paddy and as far as I know they is in here aready. bulgariabill is in the UK but if he gets back in time he will be with us for sure. Several of the normal couples will not be with us due to holidays in UK etc most of them were our stall volunteers so they will be greatly missed. I am sure we will manage. It is very difficult to get volunteers here so I do rely on the Brits for big support.

Jonathan Taylor will be in Silistra today so the DJ is sorted not sure now if the dancers are coming, they said yes a while ago but I have not had a reply for te messages so we will have to wait and see.

The marquees are up now need to decorate them, the soft drinks, rolls and salad are all ordered and we will pick up on Sat morning. The Vienna hotel has agreed to loan us the table and chairs again this year, but we won't have any big umbrellas this time so hopefully it will not rain. Wishiing us all big luck for tomorrow xx

So fingers crossed it will be all right on the day ::

You are spot on with your post davshaz. I have attended the garden party for the last five years and the transformation to the Orphanage and the children I have witnessed is phenomenal, new roof, new mini=bus, new bunk-beds (sponsored) new bicycles (sponsored) computers, Xmas shoe boxes, the list goes on and on, and this is all down to the unselfish, dedication, and total commitment of Berni, Dougie and helpers.
I saw children five years ago who didn't even have a pair of shoe's to put on their feet or a pair of trousers without holes in them. Today those same children are living the sort of life that all children should be allowed when growing up
I now ask the question to Berni and Dougie, (please don't be offended) have you done all that you can for that Orphanage and could it now be time to move on and try your dedicated attitude and expertise on pastures new
A lot of water will pass under the bridge between now and next September but I think I will personally call it a day for a visit to the Danube area
if you do decide that you will go ahead with garden party number seven
Good luck with all that you do to try to give people/children a better life, and to you both a big :Thank you:for the way you have allowed my wife and me to be :: g
