Consider speed train Bucharest-Varna

The tender for the reconstruction of the railway line Ruse - Varna will be announced in the second half of the year, the National Company "
Railway Infrastructure"
. The total project cost is 898 million lev, with funding under the Operational Programme "
Transport"
.

The project for the railroad is actually part of the idea to draw a gear train Bucharest - Giurgiu - Ruse - Varna, reported the newspaper "
Trud"
. In the Bulgarian part of the segment currently traveling an average of 780 passengers per day and repair to allow increase in speed to 160 km / h, it is not cost effective.

According to customs in Ruse, however, a day pass through the Danube bridge an average of 5,000 vehicles in both directions. Of these cars around 3000, and the rest are heavy trucks and buses hundred. The idea is that at least some of those passengers and cargo in the direction of Varna to board the train that will take the distance from the Romanian capital Varna for about 3 hours.

Might not be a bad thing this if it all goes to plan and they have the money and spend it on the railway.

This would be good for flights to Bucharest then the train to Ruse or Varna either destinations is good for Silistra.

For us in the middle of BG (VT) there is absolutely nothing. VT is the second largest city here, 20% of Brits living here are in the VT region and the distance to Varna/Bourgas and Sofia is more or less the same. There is an airport in Gorna and it is only used for freight, but we hear that it has security xrays and turnstiles for passengers there, just waiting for an airline to adopt it. This has been hearsay for ages and would make life a lot easier for going back to the UK or anywhere else if an airline took it on.
