First topic message reminder :

Hello everyone

I am still looking for a property in Bulgaria and have just come across one in a village called Garvan 25km from Silistra.

Does anyone live there or know anything about the village (good or bad)?

Thanks

We do not live in a gipsy village however, a number of our friends do and they have have no problems what so every.  We have two gypsy village around us and they are no ifferent to anyone esle, unfortunately the hostility we have encountered exists with the Bulgarians towards the guysies but we are slowly breaking down this barrier in or village.  We also visited friens who are the only English in a gypsy ie Roma village and the village was lovely,   and many greeted us. the houses were in much better condition and well kept, they are good workers too.  Personally, I would not take any notice of what people say re Roma, we don't and take people at face value always judge for yourself. g

Very true: making friends with the Roma family in our village (near Varna) was a good move. They are good workers but need supervision as their skills are not great and like many Bulgarians they have little or no idea of what constitutes a good job for westerners.
They used to pester us for work, but we have set up telephone contacts so they know we will contact them if we need them.
Roma are a mixed bunch, as are all people everywhere.

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement.

I hope to travel to Bulgaria in October to finalise the paperwork for my Bg home.

I will arrange to meet my lawyer/interpreter to visit the notary office.

Can anyone tell me from their experiences how long this visit to the notary office normally takes (not forgetting Murphy!!!) as I will be coming from Germany and therefore have to arrange flights/rental car/hotel etc.

I also hope to visit a bulgarian bank (I haven't decided which one yet) to set up an account.
