My feelings about the role of the UK in the EU are mixed - it has been a bad influence for far too many years - ever since Thatcher - but if the UK leaves the EU it would probably wreck it beyond repair as it would give the various little-[fill in your country of choice]-ers - i.e. right wing and left wing populists/fascists - an enormous boost in their respective countries. It would be a disaster of both the UK and Europe. The UK probably wouldn't survive as a single state. The EU as it stands needs reform, but certainly not of the kind that Cameron wants. Would Europe be better off as a lot of separate countries as these people want? I don't know what they are smoking - but it is cloud cuckoo land to think that any state would be better off on its own outside the EU than inside the EU.

Put my cards on the table - I'm for the EU 100% but for those who want to leave read the small print - it's a 'consultative' referendum with parliament having the final say. Vote to leave and they'll ignore that - fiddle with the terms a bit then put the question again and again until they get the right answer. Britain will never leave and you can vote to the contrary until your blue in the face - FACT!

Legally the consequence of withdrawal would necessarily be that British citizens are not EU citizens any longer, unless they can obtain or retain dual nationality of an EU Member State, Any British expats in the rest of the EU, or British citizens who might want to move to another Member State in future, had better think about getting the nationality of another Member State if that's possible for them.

EU's open borders are not about to collapse. It's free borders for every EU citizen within the Schengen area. They are only temporarily putting passport control in place to minimize the impact from the refugees. If refugees wants to come in, they should ALL be registered. Just like in any other country outside EU, they go to a refugee camp and wait to be registered and then moved elsewhere. They cant just enter EU without any paper or registration.

The Shengen agreement is not the essence of the European Union. And is a completely different matter to freedom of movement which is one of the essential principles of a united Europe. Shengen regulates which countries may be entered without pass control. When leaving Germany for the UK for example, European Union citizens have to show their passports as the UK is not part of Shengen. Freedom of movement has to do with the right of European Union citizens to go live in another country and work there, if they should find employment there, enjoying the same benefits but also subject to the same taxation as the locals. No employer in the UK is obliged to hire EU citizens though. They are there because they are needed and contribute to the economy with their taxes.

I picked this up from the link "Saving Schengen is a race against time. And we are determined to win that race."

"Without effective border control, the Schengen rules will not survive," he added. "We must hurry, but without panic."

This could be written by Peter pan, it's all part of the master plan to create a splodge of humanity in an area known as Europe with no regard for nations and their peoples. The sooner people realise what's going on and vote in the right type of politicians to stop this rot the better.

We should NEVER EVER have been in the EU to start with. We were NEVER asked, and everything that has happened since the 50s has been done WITHOUT the PEOPLE's KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT. We were deliberately deceived by Edward Heath over the EEC in the 70s. He knew perfectly well the plan was for a political union but this was cleverly hidden from the British people. In fact NONE of the 'major' EU countries have EVER had referendums on membership - France, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg (major tax concession giver to US firms), Italy and Belgium. Wouldn't it be interesting to know what the Belgians think of the EU! They don't even agree on things within Belgium, let alone anywhere else! The Swedish EU vote was manipulated and those who voted 'No' were forced to vote again under massive propaganda campaigns and economic threats. Even Lloyds bank cannot find any good reason to stay. It is pure tyranny by the tiny elites over the people - NOT what ANYONE WANTS, except the multinationals.

Sweden Introduces Border Checks amidst Growing Migrant Crisis

Sweden, known as a haven for refugees, has temporarily reintroduced border checks in a bid to stem a record influx of migrants.

The Nordic country, known for its open-door policies, has informed the European Commission about its intention to reintroduce controls at its internal borders in a move highlighting the strain put on Swedish migration authorities and police by the worst migratin crisis in Europe since WWII.

The border controls were reintroduced for the period November 12-21. They will focus on selected harbours in southern and western Sweden as well as on the Oresund bridge linking the country with Denmark. Police will monitor trains and ferries arriving from mainland Europe and stop anyone without valid travel documents.

“The decision was triggered by the unexpected migratory flow which, in the assessment of the Swedish Government, constitutes a serious threat to internal order and public policy,” the European Commission said on its website.

The temporary reintroduction of border checks between EU member states is an exceptional possibility explicitly foreseen in and regulated by the Schengen Borders Code in case of those risks, the Commission added.

Sweden, with population of about 9.5 million, has received more asylum-seekers per capita than any other EU country. The government expects up to 190,000 asylum seekers to arrive in 2015.

One in seven of those arriving in Europe make their way to Sweden, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said on Thursday.

“If you don’t have good control of who is coming here – what people are actually entering the county – that is a risk,” Lofven said in an interview with BBC’s Radio 4 Today programme.

Hungary Ready to Build Fence on Border with Romania if Needed

Hungary is ready to erect another barrier on its borders to deter a flow of migrants, this time on the border with Romania, a senior official has said.

“We are ready and capable of setting up yet another border fence within a short period of time," Janos Lazar, chief of staff to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, said at a news conference on Thursday, according to portfolio.hu

Hungary has already sealed off its borders with Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia to stem a migrant influx not seen since WWII.

Lazar said that building another razor-wire fence on the country’s border with Romania should only be a measure of last resort but he made clear that the government plans to do so if necessary.

Hungary “does not need immigrants and neither does Europe. This is the official Hungarian position,” Lazar said.

On November 11 Slovenia started building a 80-kilometer, razor-wire fence on its border with Croatia to control the influx of tens of thousands of migrants and refugees arriving along the so-called Balkan route via Greece, Macedonia and Serbia, despite repeated EU assertions that barriers and walls are not an answer.

Whilst placing flowers and tributes shows that Paris is in our thoughts, its ultimately useless, we need action. This cancer that has been breeding within our shores over the last 10-20 yrs, needs to be surgically removed NOW. s
